Instinct Television is a television production company that creates, writes and produces television programmes for local and international TV broadcasters. Based in Brisbane Queensland, the company has produced television content for over 20 years. Working both locally and internationally the company has created, written, produced and directed many hundreds of hours of variety, light entertainment, children's television and documentary programmes.

During the past twenty years ‘Epix- Electronic Pictures’ have produced many successful and award winning documentaries and television programmes. In the last 8 years, under company entity, "Instinct Television" over 70 broadcast documentaries have been written and produced for Universal Television Europe, Discovery Europe, PBS, Discovery, TLC, UK Horizons and PaxTV. Epix- Electronic Pictures, in its principal Directors Garry Gibson and Michael Gibson, brings a wealth of diverse experience in all media. Together with Producer Glenn Wilkinson and a dedicated and efficient production team, they employ the dying art of the "hands-on" approach ensuring consistent creativity, high production values and effective media.

PRINCIPALS
Garry Gibson, Producer/Director/Company Director:
Garry is a veteran television director with an extensive list of programme credits and awards. His overall experience includes the last twenty years along with brother Michael running their production companies, twenty years prior to this with the Nine Television Network Australia, five years with The Seven Television Network Australia and four years with AWA broadcasting. Garry's experience, through directing in most parts of the globe for most parts of the globe, makes his approach to any project efficient and focussed with the assurance of a seasoned broadcast professional. His dedication to the total production ethic is such that in 1988 he founded Epix Engineering to design and manufacture specialist production equipment such as the Epix Super Dolly Camera System. This dolly and jib-crane system won the Gold "Innovative Film Equipment" Australian Cinematographer's Society (ACS) Award. From 1974 Garry has assumed producer, director and DOP and often a combination of these roles for thousands of hours of broadcast television including over 150 international light entertainment, sports and educational programs.
Michael R Gibson, Producer/Director/Writer/Company Director:
Michael's professional media career began in his mid-teens, this has enabled him to branch into many production disciplines. Following a stage and radio acting career in Sydney he became programme promotions manager, head writer, producer and a station voice for the Nine Network based in Brisbane. Within 18 months he was overseeing programmes, assistant programme manager and on-air personality. Michael is also a well-known Australian on-air personality following years of producing and starring in various children’s based national television programs including The New Channel Niners for the Nine Network and Agro’s Cartoon Connection for Network Seven. He has written and performed comedy for capital city radio stations for 30 years (15 years with B105). But it is writing and producing television production that have always figured largest in his career. Beginning his career in 1971, Michael has been actor, media & dramatic tutor, presenter, award winning announcer, singer, award winning writer, producer, award winning music composer, computer graphics designer and artist, production manager, executive producer, creative director/director and a combination of these roles spanning film, television, radio and the internet.
Glenn Wilkinson- Producer/Production Manager
Glenn has worked in the Television Industry for more than 22 years, having acquired a diverse range of production skills working with some of Australia’s foremost television production companies and television networks. He has also written, produced and directed television commercials and corporate documentaries for many leading brands and companies. More recently Glenn has been working on the development of long form documentary series. Glenn is actively involved in the development of a slate of programmes with ‘Epix’ and ‘Instinct Television’, seeking new opportunities through media convergence as audience viewing habits evolve along with technology.
IN RECENT YEARS:
In 2007 Epix produced “Ruff Tuff and Real” The Story of World Championship Wrestling. The documentary was immediately picked up for exclusive DVD rights in Australia and New Zealand by distributor Magna Pacific. The one hour programme aired on Channel 9 and has also been picked up by US Distributor Lonely Seal Releasing for international sales rights.
Demolition Deadline aired on Channel 9 in November 2007, the one hour documentary challenged a married couple to demolish and recycle an entire house in just seven days. Development is currently underway for a thirteen part series.
From 2001 to 2004 Epix completed “Killer Instinct” for The Discovery Channel UK. Based in Australia, hosted by Queensland animal guru, Rob Bredl. The success of the initial six episodes instigated the commissioning of a further 33 episodes for US Cable Broadcaster Outdoor Life Network and UK Horizons. 39 one hour episodes were completed and sold worldwide.
During the initial "Killer Instinct" series shoot, Epix also had a film crew in Hollywood shooting “Behind the Fame.” Interviewing and shooting the surviving stars, producers and directors of such international television classics as Hill Street Blues, LA Law, The Munsters, The Addams Family, The Mary Tyler Moore Show and The Bob Newhart Show.
In 2000 Epix completed writing, producing and directing four one hour episodes of "Lords of the Mafia". This was for a 13 part documentary series for PBS America and worldwide syndication on organised crime hosted by now deceased actor Robert Stack.
Also completed was a 13 part documentary series titled “Evil”, deeply examining all aspects of ”evil” minds, governments, places, acts, people, legends etc. airing in France, Germany, Spain, England, Italy, Japan and South America for Universal Television’s “13th Street.” This series provided local actors with over 300 speaking and non speaking roles in 160 different locations.
